Mud and Stone Studios x National Candles

We are delighted to share a new collaboration with Mud and Stone Studios, a ceramic and stone studio based on the West Coast of the South Island, Aotearoa. Known for their quiet, thoughtful approach, Mud and Stone shape, refine, and finish every item by hand, using natural materials and time-honoured techniques.

For this limited-run series, we partnered with ceramicist Karma Taylor to create candle holders and melt plates designed specifically to accommodate our locally crafted candle range. Each piece has been hand-crafted and finished in one of the studio’s signature glazes:

- Limestone
- Harakeke
- Kōkako
- Rust 

From soft and understated to rich and expressive, these glazes bring distinct character and mood to every form.

Because every holder and melt plate is handmade, no two pieces are identical. Subtle variations in tone, texture, and glaze movement are celebrated as part of the process, giving each object its own unique presence. The resulting collection feels grounded, tactile, and intentionally crafted, reflecting the same values at the heart of candle making.

More than just functional objects, these pieces frame light, scent, and space. They elevate the everyday ritual, turning the simple act of lighting a candle into a considered, calm, and connected moment.
